WHEATLEY PROVINCIAL PARK

 .

Monday 30th May 2016.                                         155475

Time for a road trip for us.  The weather sounds good for a while so we are heading out to Wheatley Provincial Park.

We stopped in Mount Forest for gas.  This one horse power vehicle seemed to be quite relaxed while we gassed up.

It was a good drive.  The only heavy traffic was through London.  We will have to find a different way back

We stopped for picnic lunch about 1.45 p.m. We had found a real nice area all set up with picnic tables and kept immaculately clean and tidy.

Then on our again, checking into Wheatley about 3. 15 p.m.

Took site #147.   Really great site with a good view of the pond, where the fish were jumping.

We relaxed in the sunshine for a while before checking out the beach area.

It is a pretty walk and to get to the beach  we had to cross The Two Creeks Bridge.

The views from each side of the bridge.

The beach equally as nice.

From the beach we headed back to our site ready for a BBQ before we settled by the campfire and listen to the Blue Jays "WIN" - we hope.

Well that didn't work in our favour as we could not get the game on the radio.   However the  music was good.    Elijah text us to let us know the Jays had beat the Yankees 4-2.   That was good news.

So all in all it was another very fine day and relaxing evening.

Tuesday May 31st 2016

Summer is still with us, the fish are still jumping and the Bunny is very friendly.   This is a good start to the day.

Mike had to check El Campista as we could smell gas when we got here yesterday.   He found there was a crack in one of the gas lines.

Luckily "Mike the Mechanic"  had some hose and clamps in his box of tricks, so all repairs were complete before lunch

We had an early lunch then hit the trails.

There were quite a few bugs which looked just like mosquitoes, but as they didn't bite it was not a problem.

Wild flowers were blooming and the squirrels, birds and rabbits were enjoying the lovely warm weather as much as we were.

After some time on the trail we made our way to the beach area again.

The beach was really quite quiet for such a lovely warm day.

Luckily for me there was driftwood lying on the beach.

After an hour or so along the beach we walked along the cliff edge.

We came upon an area on the beach, way below us,  with what appeared to be many downed trees.

Luckily we could make our way down a trail to the beach below.

It looked like a graveyard for trees and all kinds of driftwood.      Yes, I was in my element here, so many pictures to take and each piece of driftwood took a different looks and held a different story.

It was extremely interesting and quite intriguing.   It took a while to wander through it all.

From the beach we made our way back to the cliff top, then the bridge.

That is where we saw this Painted Turtle taking a nice afternoon swim in the Two Creeks area.

Back to #147 for Happy Hour!  It had been a great afternoon, and very interesting.

After supper we relaxed around the campfire, where we were joined by several rabbits, but they were too busy playing to want pictures taken.

Great way to end another wonderful day.

Wednesday June 1st 2016.

Yes- sunny again.  It will be a shame to leave this very pretty site.  We are heading into Kingsville,  after we have packed up today.   We are going for a visit with Don and Helen, and  are really looking forward to that.

Arrived at Don and Helen's around noon hour.  The tour of their new home was wonderful.  It is a fabulous house and property.

After the tour we sat and caught up on all the news etc. over the past year,   before Helen served us a delicious lunch.    Thank you so much Don and Helen for your hospitality and wonderful lunch.

Then the four of us  relaxed on the patio, chatting for another couple of hours or more before Mike and I had to consider heading home.   I think we left Kingsville somewhere around 3.15 - 3.30 p.m.  knowing we had a good 4 hours left on the road.

We did stop at the same picnic spot again and programmed our GPS Lady o find us a good route home through the countryside.
Pleased to tell you she did an excellent job. Hopefully we can find that route again.  It was a perfect day for a ride through the countryside, and the weather was great.

When we reached Stafford we decided it was a good time for a break and have a light supper.

Then we just made our way to Durham.
Pulled in our driveway about 8.45 p.m.
It had been an excellent day and a very good trip.                                                      156295

Guess in the next week or so we have a lot to catch up with around the house and garden.   Catch you all after that.
